Built into Quick License Manager by Soraco
Keep disposable emails out of your QLM trials
Quick License Manager can now check trial requests with ClearBounce. Set two server properties on your license server, and anyone who signs up with a throwaway inbox is turned away before QLM creates a trial key. Real prospects get their key as usual.

Two server properties, nothing to install
QLM talks to the ClearBounce API directly. You set it up per site in the QLM Management Console, under Manage Keys › Sites › Server Properties. From then on, every request from your trial registration form is checked before a key is created.
- 1Your site. On the Manage Keys tab, click Sites and select the site your trial form runs on.
- 2Detector URL. Set
customerSite/disposableEmailDetectorUrltohttps://api.clearbounce.net/api/v1/verify. - 3API key. Set
customerSite/disposableEmailDetectorApiKeyto the live key from your ClearBounce dashboard.
What happens to each trial request
A disposable inbox takes seconds to create. One person can start trial after trial, and the key you email lands in an inbox nobody opens again. With ClearBounce connected, QLM checks the address first.
allowGenericEmailProviders.
Pair it with QLM’s own limits. ClearBounce stops the throwaway address, and numberOfTrialLicensesAllowedPerClient stops the same computer from starting over with a new one.
Quick License Manager
What QLM does besides ClearBounce
Quick License Manager is Soraco’s software licensing platform, used since 2007 to issue license keys, handle online activation, and run trial registration for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android apps. The ClearBounce check is one of several ways it keeps trials honest.
Get Quick License Manager-
Banned and generic email providers
Deny any address that matches your own list of banned providers, and decide whether free addresses like Gmail or Hotmail can request a trial at all.
-
One trial per company
Refuse a trial when someone from the same domain already has one, or when that company has already bought the product.
-
Trial limits per computer
Limit how many trial keys can be activated on one machine, so a new email address doesn’t mean a new trial.
Set it up in four steps
-
Create your ClearBounce API key
Sign up and open Dashboard › API. Your live key, starting with
cb_live_, is already there. Copy it. -
Update QLM
ClearBounce is supported as of QLM 20.0.26299.1. If your license server runs an older build, upgrade it first.
-
Set the two server properties
In the QLM Management Console, go to Manage Keys › Sites, select your site and open Server Properties:

Write the message people see
Set
disallowedEmailMessageto the text shown when an address is refused, for example a request to use a work email. Then submit your trial form once with a disposable address to see it.

See who was turned away
QLM records refused trial requests in its Audit Trail. With QLM Enterprise, a saved search and a Scheduled Task can email you a daily report of them, so you can see exactly which sign-ups were stopped.
On the ClearBounce side, every check also appears in the verification history in your dashboard, with the result and the reason.

Questions
What do I need to use it?
Quick License Manager 20.0.26299.1 or later with trial registration on your site, and a ClearBounce account. There’s nothing to install on the ClearBounce side. QLM calls the ClearBounce API with your key.
Which addresses does QLM refuse?
QLM uses ClearBounce to detect disposable email addresses, the throwaway inboxes from services like Mailinator. Work and personal addresses pass the check. QLM’s other trial rules, such as banned providers and one trial per domain, still apply as you’ve set them.
How many credits does it use?
One credit for each trial request QLM checks. Credits start at $4 per 1,000, never expire, and every new account gets 100 free. See pricing.
Can I change the message people see?
Yes. Set the disallowedEmailMessage server property to your own text, for example asking for a work email address.
What data is sent to ClearBounce?
The email address being checked, over HTTPS. Each check also shows up in the verification history in your ClearBounce dashboard. Details are in our privacy policy and DPA.
I don’t use QLM. Can I check sign-ups another way?
Yes. Call the ClearBounce API from your own sign-up flow, or use one of our ready-made integrations.
