The list you are about to send to is older than you think.
Addresses decay quietly. People change jobs, close mailboxes, and mistype at signup, and none of that shows up until the campaign is already out. Verifying first turns an unknown risk into a number you can look at before you commit your sending reputation to it.

Not the abstract case for clean data — the specific things that go differently when the list has been checked first.
Across 807,203 addresses we verified in the first half of 2026, one in ten was outright undeliverable. On an unverified list that share arrives as bounces, after the send, in front of the mailbox providers who are grading you.
Rates are calculated against delivered mail. Strip out addresses that were never going to receive anything and the numbers describe your audience instead of your data quality.
Most platforms bill on list size. Addresses that cannot receive mail cost the same as the ones that can, every month, until somebody removes them.
A recycled trap or a stale info@ box does more damage than a plain bounce, because it goes into the provider's judgement of your sender reputation rather than just your report.
Connect Mailchimp, Brevo, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot and the rest, verify in place, and skip the export-clean-reimport round trip that loses your segments.
Buy for the seasonal spike and use the remainder in March. Nothing burns at the end of the year, so you are not budgeting against a countdown.
You do not need to verify before every newsletter. These are the moments where skipping it is what costs you.
Before a re-engagement campaign to a list that has been sitting still — this is the single riskiest send most teams make
Before migrating to a new ESP or CRM, so you import a clean list rather than paying to store the dead part of the old one
While warming a new domain or IP, when every early bounce weighs disproportionately
Ahead of a seasonal or launch campaign that hits the whole database at once
After a burst of signups you cannot explain, which is either a good week or a bot
When bounce rates or inbox placement have moved and nobody can say why
When a list arrives from somewhere else — an acquisition, an event, a partner, an agency handover
Every address comes back labelled, and the labels carry a reason. That matters because the four groups need four different decisions, and a tool that collapses them into "good" and "bad" makes that decision for you.
Deliverable — send. This is the part of your list that is genuinely reachable.
Undeliverable — suppress. The mailbox or the domain rejected it outright.
Risky — disposable, role-based, catch-all, a likely typo, or an ambiguous answer. We do not recommend sending to these.
Unknown — the provider would not answer usefully. Worth re-checking later rather than deleting.
Verification is only useful if it fits into the week you actually have.
Drag the export in, get a labelled file back with every address, its status and the reason behind it. Filter it in the tool you already use for everything else.
Pull the list straight out of Mailchimp, Brevo, ActiveCampaign, GetResponse, MailerLite, AWeber, Moosend or HubSpot, verify it, and push the result back without touching a spreadsheet.
ClearBounce Shield checks the address while the visitor is still on the page, so tomorrow's list does not need the same cleanup as today's.
The Deliverability Kit checks SPF, DKIM and DMARC and monitors your domains and IPs against the major blocklists, which is the other half of the reason good mail does not arrive.
Connect your platform and verify the list where it already lives, or use the API and skip the export entirely.
Verification demand is rarely flat. It spikes when you migrate, when a season starts, when a list arrives. Pricing that assumes a steady monthly volume charges you for the quiet months too.
Credits never expire. Buy for the spike, use the balance whenever it comes up next.

Enough to verify a real sample of your list and see the result breakdown before you spend anything.
Create a free account Compare all plansEmail addresses go stale at roughly two percent a month as people change jobs and abandon mailboxes. For a list you mail regularly, a full pass every six months keeps up with that; for one that sits between campaigns, verify before each send rather than on a schedule.
Your list size drops and your rates improve, because both are measured against mail that was actually delivered. The addresses you remove were not receiving anything — they were only being counted.
We do not recommend sending to them. Risky covers several different problems — disposable domains, role accounts, catch-all servers, likely typos — so if the segment is large, look at the sub-status before deciding. A typo can be corrected; a disposable domain should simply go.
We have direct integrations for Mailchimp, Brevo, ActiveCampaign, GetResponse, MailerLite, AWeber, Moosend, HubSpot, Salesforce and Instantly, plus Zapier and Make for anything else. There is also a WordPress plugin for forms.
That is what the free credits are for. New accounts get 100 with no card required — enough to run a real sample of your own list and see the breakdown before you decide whether the rest is worth verifying.
Then the problem is on the sending side rather than the list. Check that SPF, DKIM and DMARC are aligned for the domain you send from, and whether that domain or its sending IPs are on a blocklist — both are in the Deliverability Kit, and we wrote up the whole diagnostic path in the blog.
