Verified community node on n8n

Verify email addresses inside your n8n workflows

The ClearBounce node is verified by n8n and works on n8n Cloud and self-hosted. Check a signup the moment it arrives, clean a whole list in one bulk job, or find a lead’s business email, then branch on the result like any other step.

Install it from the nodes panel

Verified community nodes are installed from inside the editor, with no command line. An owner or admin installs ClearBounce once, and everyone in the instance can use it.

  1. 1
Search. On the canvas, open the nodes panel with + or the N key and type ClearBounce.
  2. 2
Install. Select ClearBounce under More from the community and click Install.
  3. 3
Connect. Pick an action, create a ClearBounce API credential and paste your API key.

On n8n Cloud, “Verified community nodes” must be turned on in your instance settings. On a self-hosted instance you can also install the package n8n-nodes-clearbounce from Settings › Community nodes.

What the node can do

Six operations in three groups. Pick one each time you add the node, and map the email field from the step before it.

OperationWhat it doesCost
Email › Verify Checks one address in real time and returns a status, a reason, a 0–100 score, flags for catch-all, disposable, role-based and free addresses, and a typo suggestion when it finds one. 1 credit
Email › Find Finds a person’s business email from their full name and company domain. The result is unverified until you run Verify on it. Free
Bulk Job › Create Puts the addresses of all incoming items into one job. With Wait for Completion on, you get one result per item, in the same order. Lists over 10,000 addresses are split into several jobs for you. 1 credit per unique address
Bulk Job › Get Returns the status and progress of a bulk job. Free
Bulk Job › Get Results Returns the result of every address in a finished job, one item per address. Free
Account › Get Credits Returns your remaining credit balance, handy for a low-credit alert at the start of a workflow. Free

The node also works as a tool for the n8n AI Agent, so an agent can check an address before it writes to your CRM or sends a message.

Branch on the result

Add a Switch or If node after ClearBounce and route on {{ $json.status }}. These are the four values it can have.

StatusMeaningTypical next step
deliverable The mailbox exists and accepts mail. Continue. Add the contact to your CRM, list or sequence.
risky It may accept mail, but it’s catch-all, disposable, role-based or low quality. Decide per workflow. Check isDisposable and isCatchAll to tell them apart.
undeliverable The mailbox or domain doesn’t exist, or the address is malformed. Stop. Don’t send. If didYouMean has a value, offer the corrected address.
unknown The recipient’s mail server didn’t give a definite answer. Retry later with a Wait node, or treat it as risky.

With Simplify on (the default), each result has ten fields: email, status, reason, score, isDeliverable, isCatchAll, isDisposable, isRoleBased, isFreeProvider and didYouMean. Turn it off for the full SMTP and DNS details.

Example workflows

Start from a working workflow

Three ready-made workflows are in the node’s GitHub repository. Download the JSON, then import it in n8n with Workflows › Import from File, add your credential and run it.

Browse the examples
  • Verify form signups

Check each new form submission as it arrives and keep only the deliverable addresses.

  • Clean a Google Sheet

Verify every address in a sheet in one bulk job and write the status back to each row.

  • Find and verify a business email

Find a lead’s address from their name and company domain, then verify it before it goes anywhere.

Set it up in four steps

  1. Create your ClearBounce API key

Sign up and open Dashboard › API. Your live key, starting with cb_live_, is already there. Add a Test (Sandbox) key too if you want to try it for free first.

  2. Install the node

Search for ClearBounce in the nodes panel and install it, as shown above.

  3. Add the credential

In any ClearBounce action, create a ClearBounce API credential and paste your key. n8n tests it right away.

  4. Map the email field

Choose an operation, set Email to the field from the previous step, for example {{ $json.email }}, and run the step to see the result.

Questions

Does it work on n8n Cloud?

Yes. ClearBounce is a verified community node, so it’s available on n8n Cloud as well as on self-hosted instances. On Cloud, an owner turns on “Verified community nodes” in the instance settings, then installs ClearBounce from the nodes panel.

Should I use Verify or a bulk job?

Use Email › Verify for one address at a time, like a form signup or a new CRM contact. Use Bulk Job › Create when a step brings in many items at once, like rows from a sheet: all of them go into one job, duplicates are checked and charged once, and you get one result per item back.

How many credits does it use?

One credit for each address verified, and one per unique address in a bulk job. Find, Get, Get Results and Get Credits are free. Credits start at $4 per 1,000, never expire, and every new account gets 100 free. See pricing.

What happens with malformed or empty addresses?

Malformed addresses aren’t sent to ClearBounce and cost nothing. The node returns them with status: undeliverable and reason: invalid_syntax, so every input item still gets one output item. In Verify, an empty Email field stops the node, because it usually means the field points to the wrong value.

Can I use ClearBounce in n8n without the node?

Yes. Call the ClearBounce API from an HTTP Request node with your key in the X-API-Key header. The node is easier: bulk jobs, waiting for results and malformed addresses are handled for you.

What data is sent to ClearBounce?

The email addresses you verify, over HTTPS, and the name and domain you search for with Find. Each verification also appears in the history in your ClearBounce dashboard. Details are in our privacy policy.
